It is situated on the Sheep's Head Way (45 miles of walks with spectacular coastal paths for walkers and cyclists), winner of the prestigious Eden award. The locality is designated a 'special protection area for birds'. Small lakes, ruined castles, megalithic sites and a wealth of historic monuments.
