The cottages on offer in this location take full advantage of all this 'sunny south east' county has to offer.
The scenery of County Wexford is reminiscent of Normandy - low hills, river valleys and rich farmlands with well-kept thatched cottages, lush pastures and beautiful sandy beaches. The county is bounded on the north by the Wicklow Hills and on the west by the River Barrow and the Blackstairs Mountains. Its fertile central plain is watered by the River Slaney.
The history of Wexford goes back to pre-Christian times and important chapters of Ireland's history have been enacted within the county. Above all, Wexford is famous for the insurrection of 1798 when the county's pikemen fought gloriously against overwhelming odds.
In Wexford, the sportsman is well catered for. Fishing, golf and shooting may be enjoyed throughout the county.
The highlight of the cultural life of Wexford is the world-renowned Wexford Opera Fesitval held annually in October. Programmes of lesser-known operas are produced with world-famous soloists, the Radio Telefis Eireann Symphony Orchestra and a splendid local chorus.
There are many beautiful drives in the county with old-world towns like Enniscorthy and New Ross and picturesque fishing villages like Ballyhack, Duncannon, Fethard-on-Sea and Kilmore Quay, to be visited, enjoyed and remembered. There are good seaside resorts like Curracloe, Rosslare, Fethard and Duncannon.
County Wexford, along with Waterford, belongs to the part of Ireland referred to as the 'Sunny South East'. With their pleasant weather and fine sandy beaches, resorts such as Rosslare Strand and Courtown are a popular holiday destinations. You can also visit Baginbun Beach (where the Normans landed in 1169) or the oldest lighthouse in Europe, on Hook Peninsula.
There are several excellent golf courses throughout County Wexford. The Blackstairs Mountains are ideal for climbing and walking. Angling and canoeing are popular activities on the River Slaney. Small towns like Enniscorthy (which hosted the first stage of the Tour de France in 1998) are steeped in charm and history. Enniscorthy Castle, dating from 1205, is now home to the Wexford County Museum.
